If you've recently upgraded your computer from Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 10 and are experiencing unexpected functionality issues, don't worry – you're not alone. It's common for older systems to encounter compatibility hiccups during the upgrade process. Fortunately, there's a simple solution to get your system back on track.
Understanding the Issue
When transitioning from older versions of Windows to Windows 10, various system components may not seamlessly integrate, leading to functionality disruptions. However, Windows provides built-in tools that can effectively address these issues.
Solution:
1. Right-click the start menu (Window Icon) and select "Command Prompt (Admin)"
- NOTE: If you can use the search function inside the start menu (Windows Icon), you can also search CMD. Right-click the option for Command Prompt, and select Run it as an Administrator:
2. Enter the Following Command:
- DISM /Online / Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
3. Press Enter to start the scan. Once completed it will display the results
4. Enter the next command:
- SFC /scannow
5. Press Enter to start this scan. Once completed it will display results and may prompt to restart the computer if any corrupted files were found. Restart the computer to allow it to apply fixes and changes.
